I saw the Trans-Siberian Orchestra last night. I have been wanting to see them for years, but their tickets are fairly expensive and we've just never had the extra money at Christmas.
This year, Chris bought them months ago and surprised me for my birthday. Gold star for him, because, seriously, DUDE.
Here are some of my observations:
1. There was enough hair, collectively, on that stage to keep Locks Of Love overwhelmed for a year.
2. This woman is not human. And nothing you can say will convince me otherwise.
3. This guy busted out with the Charlie Brown theme and then somehow segued into Chopin and I wet myself.
4. Tommy Farese sang some song, I don't even remember what it was but it was incredible. And then his Hair went crazy and ate the bass player.
5. It doesn't matter if you like rock, blues, classical or the sound of tiny leprechauns singing dirty limericks, you will find something to love about this show.
6. DUDE. FIRE. LIGHTS. MORE FIRE.
7. My husband was the one that screamed, "FREE BIRD!!", during a lull in the guitar solo. He cracks himself up.
8. The Hair got depressed after it ate one of the backup singers and sat quietly in the corner, weeping, before security hauled it away.
9. FLAMES, BIG HONKIN' FLAMES. PRETTTTTYY.
10. The lady next to me was drunk and smelly. I forgave her that because the narrator told me I had to be nice, being this was a Christmas show and all. When she elbowed me for the twentieth time, I leaned over and whispered, "My husband? He ate one of those huge chili-dogs with extra onions, so I apologize beforehand if you lose an eyebrow or anything." She leaned the other way. God bless us, every one.
11. It is well worth every penny. This show left me awestruck, and they did it for three hours. I don't think I've ever done anything for three hours.
12. Open flames, big hair and lots of hair product = some day, something really bad is going to happen and I hope they have a fire truck waiting outside. That's all I'm going to say about that.
13. They broke into, "Proud Mary", and geriatrics everywhere went ballistic. No one broke a hip and it was a beautiful thing.
14. Do you know they had a headline the day Ike turner died and it said, "Ike Beats Tina Turner To Death"? I mean, seriously? Who let THAT one slip?
I had one thing going through my mind through the entire show...but...
nevermind.
Merry Christmas. Keep your hair under control.

They are supposed to be here for New years and I totally want to go
OMFG!!!! Stop making me laugh so hard I pee myself!! I'm going to have to start keeping panties at work if you keep that up!
bwa..ha..ha.ha...!!!!!!
I love TSO and used to see them every year. But now they play the hugest venues that give me hives at the mere thought of venturing out (American Airlines Center, anyone?). My husband saw them in Buffalo and is going to see them again in Dallas--they're the best.
Don't you think the opening stances--the three men holding their guitars as tenderly as they hold their manly bits--is the perfect example of "guitar as phallus"?
I saw Derek Wieland's name and thought he might be Scott Wieland's kid brother or something. Got to his website and he looks nothing like a junkie so no relation there.
You only threatened her with Chris' flatulence? You were being nice, werentcha? Merry Christmas back atcha.

What a GREAT gift, glad you enjoyed it. Did they play Wizards of Winter? Of course they did, the almost HAVE to play that one.
Merry Christmas!!
I want to see them badly this year - but, once again, I didn't get tickets. DARN! Now, I'm convinced, if for not other reason than the HAIR...I must go!
Sorry, I blame the coffee.
I must live in a cave. I have no idea who TSO is.
Will Santa cross me off the list for that?
Have a wonderful holiday!
We're going the day after Christmas. For the 3rd time because we just can't get enought.

A hole? DUDE, that's a canyon!
Wow that sounds insanely fun. Another laugh riot of a post..thanks for breaking the holiday doldrum for me. Have a great holiday folks.
I have never heard of the TSO, but even i want to go and see them now.
I can just picture the geriatrics bopping to proud mary
I *LOVE* TSO. Love, love, love. They've been a Christmas tradition for me and my brother for the past few years, and we wouldn't miss the show for anything :)
So glad the love is spreading!
So. Freakin'. Jealous. I've wanted to see them for years. They came to our town the weekend after Thanksgiving and no matter how many hints I dropped, my husband never picked it up. Damnit. Next time, I SWEAR.
I was able to see T-SO 2 years ago and was AWE struck by them. It's an amazing show and if anyone has a remote chance to see their performance GO!
Anna Phoebe is worth the price of admission alone! Best $96 I ever spent for two tickets! Sixth row front and I didn't even know there was a show going on in back until it was nearly over! Awesome, awesome, awesome!
TSO are pretty beast. I was in a progressive metal band a couple of years ago that covered Christmas in Sarajevo (the popular one that is like a metal version of Carol of the Bells), people went wild..:-)
-Matt
I would KILL to see TSO! Damn! Glad you had a great time and avoided being munched on by the random acts of follicle madness ;)
Happy Holidays
I am SO jealous. I wanted to go. Forgot to order tickets and when I got back home from my Thanksgiving trip I couldn't get tickets. I will definitely not forget the next time they are here.
I went to see them last night in Raleigh, NC.
Tickets to this show are my Christmas present every year, and it is ALL that I ask for.
I LOVE CHRISTMAS METAL!
They are supposed to be here soon and I wish I could go, but guess I'm gonna have to just wait till next year...
Yeah, for the geriatrics. I'm one of them.
They came to our little "friendly city" one year. It was awesome.
Who knew violinists could be so hot? She kicks ass...
Ooo Glad you got to go see TSO.
I go every year and cry like a bitch when the Angel's talking about the ethnic cleansing in Sarajevo.
Saw TSO last year and they do put on quite the show. Mannheim Steamroller is pretty awesome too if you get the chance!
I've been going to TSO for about six years now. That always marks the beginning of the holiday season for me (they come to Chicago the first week of December each year). This year I took my 10 year old son for the first time. It was fun to see it through his eyes this year. Talk about being mesmorized!!
Is it a rule somewhere that you have to have long hair OR be bald to be in this club? haha they should have a locks of love benefit!!!
Tran Siberian Orchestra's Lost Christmas Eve is the only Christmas music I play. Drives my office crazy. I love TSO and I am so jealous you got to go to a show.
I wanted to do a post on the TSO but I think I will just link yours -- you said it better than I ever could......It is one of the shows that i will never miss in my area again. Worth every penny. I have even put a little ten song recorder on my blog so anyone who wants to listen to some of their best -- can :) Thanks for the funnies this morning.
I'm kind of ticked at my bro for not telling me my SIL loves TSO until two days after their tickets went on sale...and incidentally sold out. Had the man spoke up earlier, I could have nabbed them tix to a Jan show for $37 a piece and made my Christmas shopping hella easier. Sometimes casino sponsorship is a wonderful thing.
Instead she's getting a TSO DVD and a coffee maker.
I am with Faith above... we used to go every year; I would introduce someone new to it. Here they would come out after the show and sign autographs for hours! It was the most amazing thing to see your kids "Rocking" and then the amazement of them staring right into the faces at their eye level to the heros on the stage from moments ago!!! And then HORROR!! They went tothe American Airlines center, where we were not allowed to bring our stuff in to get signed... and had to get through security... and then SMACK DAB in the middle of the BEST SONG, someone smoked in the bathroom and the whole stadium had to be emptied while they looked for the fire. It was a total nightmare. So.. we have sadly after 6 faithful years of going, not been back again. And we mourn it. we truly loved the show. My first year was the most amazing experience..but I dont want to tell you all and make you cry! :o)
SO glad you got to go through Crystal. the music is just AWESOME!
FYI: If you ever think about going, plan on getting there an hour early. They are always sold out and traffic is horrible. We spent 20 minutes in the car and moved less than 100 feet. The show is well worth it though. At the beginning of the show, they wrote St. Jude's hospital a check for like $15,000.00 or something and afterwards gave, what appeared to be a Les Paul, guitar to some kid in the audience. I was soooo Jealous.
Merry Christmas!
I know the next time I go to see them I'm taking marshmallows. Those flames were HOT. But we were about 20 feet from them behind the control center... We will be going back next year.
Your title reminded me that when I worked for an answering service, I had a client who's first name was "Aquanetta". No kidding.
Oh, merry holiday. TSO are awesome.
Sounds like an awesome, awesome show.
And as a headline writer, let me just No. 14 had me laughing so hard I couldn't speak.
When we saw them, the people behind us were drunk. The lady spilled beer on me, and then they proceeded to talk through the first part of the show. I finally turned around and with less than Christmas Cheer snarked at them "are you going to talk through the WHOLE show?" I think I caught them off guard, but at least they shut up.
And OMG TSO totally ROCKS. I'd love to see them again some day. I hope the Hair doesn't eat them all before I get a chance to see them again...
Look what I found on YouTube...

Lucky you! I am jealous
Yeah, it's usually an annual thing for us to go see them. My husband is NUTS for TSO, but this year, he sacrificed so I could see Craig Ferguson!
Glad you had a good time. Merry Christmas!
Trans-Siberian Orchestra? I'm jealous! But Mannheim Steamroller would be the ultimate for me! They were in town this holiday season and I missed it! Gah!
Have a very Merry Christmas!!
Psst...Merry Christmas, my friend!
Merry Christmas!!!
Mom
Hahahaha! Now that was some evening out. Thanks for sharing your observations. Tooo funny.
Screaming Christmas Guitar!
Laser show!
Light show!
Pyrotechnics!
Oh yeah, and music happened too.
I spent $500 on tickets and took four generations of family to the show, from my 82 year old mother, to mmy 15 year old granson. A good way to take care of a bunch of Christmas Presents. A good time was had by all.
And I get to go too.
Anna Phoebe on the electric pink violin is amazing. She plays with Jethro Tull in her spare time.
Merry Christmas!
TSO is up here in the tundra December 29th. I can't wait. Had the tickets since September.
The TSO is magnificent. MY WIFE bought tickets for me to see them 2 years ago. Great show.
OMG - SO JEALOUS! I, like many, just wet myself. Thank you for the laugh.
This is the funniest thing I have read in a long time. You're crazy.
You totally described the show! You're right - no matter what kind of music you like, you WILL enjoy yourself!
"I had one thing going through my mind through the entire show...but...
nevermind."
Now that's very, very mean to write. Tantalizing me, causing me to wonder what you were thinking...hope it involved Chris.
Now be nice and explain what you meant!
Wonder what your eldest two kids would think of the show. What a way to introduce them to a little classical music.
And WHATS WITH THE GERATICS? As someone who just turned half a century, I trust you were reffering to the old folks, like 70 year olds, right?
I have to say I would not have ever had the urge to even finish reading the phrase "Trans-Siberian Orchestra" much less plan to go see them, but now that I've read this I will change my tune.
And I had to go check out the inhuman woman, and it turns out she toured with Jethro Rull! That alone makes me all aquiver.
Answer me this; How did you get your husband to buy those tickets willingly? AND...How did you make him go? Because my husband about busted something when I asked him to take me to The Nutcracker.
GREAT. Just great. Thanx a lot.
DANGIT!
I just now read this blog entry (late, I know) and then post my comment, and then decide to go see if they're still touring.
And what do I find?
They were in Austin the night before last!!!!
DINGDANGIT!
Upon closer inspection, however, it seems that it says they play 3pm in Detroit on 12/26, then 7:30pm in Austin on 12/26, and then Detroit again at 8pm 12/26, so obviously the show in Austin was only a few minutes long. I guess I didn't miss much.
Ooh, but they're in Dallas tonight.
I got to go see TSO for the first time live last night. My kids got me tickets for Christmas. The 3 of us had an absolute blast. I have no voice this morning. We were about 5 feet from the control center so had a really good view of the back show and the heat from the fire.
Wonderful show. If you haven't seen it you should go!!!!
It's really not safe reading your hilarious posts with my mom's boyfriend's son sleeping only feet from my mouth, which periodically snaps open in fits of restrained laughter.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE TSO. My mom takes me every year for my birthday. I have Christmas in Sarajevo as my ringtone, even.
So glad to hear that you enjoyed the show!
That sounds like so much fun! I just imagine if their hair caught on fire they would just keep on going. How cool would THAT be!
I have a reference to your Ike Turner headline here:
http://jebbicarocks.blogspot.com/2007/12/best-headline-ever.html
I'm just sad I didn't come up with that myself. Tacky, but genius.
Trans Siberian Orchestra is GOD. I love them so hard.
Someday when i have money again, I'll be seeing them when they're here.
We saw them last year and loved them! I download their music to my ipod at the beginning of December and listen to it non-stop for a month - well, I might throw a few other carols in there but since there are so many of their songs, TSO tends to overwhelm the competition, and that's not including the hair:) Happy New Year!
